Within Singapore's eclectic and widely revered dining scene, just about every nation is represented. Among the country's restaurants are a few Korean eateries, but none which have reached the heights of Sarang. Sarang is the Korean word for 'love' and it couldn't be more appropriate for the evident passion and enthusiasm that this very special eatery conveys.

| The recipe for success at Sarang is rather simple and obviously effective. It is the trick of bringing modern interpretations of the most authentic and traditional Korean cuisine to diners in a stylish contemporary venue. Authenticity and tradition are key to understanding the food at Sarang. The kitchen, helmed by veteran Korean chef Song Min Sub, is made up entirely of Korean chefs, each of whom underwent a gruelling selection process.

Open for lunch and dinner, there are a la carte options, although it's probably best to opt for a set menu to get the full experience. You can expect delightful choices, ranging from the simply prepared rice dishes with pork and vegetables, to the ever enticing pancakes and 'banchan', those lovely side-dishes which are a staple of every authentic Korean meal.

Noodle dishes also feature prominently, and those who appreciate these delicate offerings will find many tempting iterations with freshly prepared broth and perfectly treated meats and poultry. Diners looking for a special meat dish might do well to try the signature Sogalbi Jjim, a moreish marvel of braised beef short ribs in a chef's sauce; a wonderful dish, particularly if you have a mouthful or two left of the braised brinjal and deep-fried bean curd side-dish to complement it.
The discerning gourmet will be doubly pleased to find that the wine list is extensive, supplying known and loved bottles from the old world and a few unexpected treasures from the new. For an extra treat, you can always try one of the speciality Korean drinks, perhaps the pure plum wine, Maechwisun, or the perky Baekseju, a rice wine with ginseng and eleven other herbs.
Despite the sophisticated interior, the food is all about the pleasure of eating, and it doesn't matter whether you're enjoying a large family meal, a business lunch or even a romantic dinner, there is something in the nature of the cuisine which brings the element of culinary passion to the fore. In addition to the main dining room, Sarang offers two private dining rooms for special events, from corporate functions to birthday celebrations and just about anything in-between. The Pool View room can easily accommodate up to 20 guests, while the Park View room can accommodate an extra ten.

| In a country which has some of the finest restaurants in the world, which is a favoured destination for gourmets who seek out excellence and won't settle for second best, it's rather a good thing to find that Korea's delightful, lip-smacking food is finally represented in its most authentic form, created by those who know and love what they're doing.
